George and Margaret Porter came to this area from Gore Bay, Ontario, in early 1880. They had a homestead 1.5 Miles east of the five corners. This became the site of the family farm. George and Margaret had six children:

Philip Young Porter born on the 15th of September, 1890, in Gore Bay, Manitoulin Island, Ontario
George Porter was born in 1857 and died in 1921
Margaret Elizabeth Porter was Born July 17, 1856 – Died Dec 26, 1911
The first General store was built in 1888 at Murray's Corner
Philip Young Porter, Started working for the general store in Murrayville in 1904, at the age of 14.
In 1916, at the age of 25, he bought the place and renamed it P.Y. Porter's. At that time it was a general store selling Hardware, clothing, dry goods etc.
Philip Eldon Porter, son of P.Y. and Nellie Porter, was born on May 5, 1925.
After the second World War Eldon Porter became a partner in his father's store and the store was renamed: P.Y. Porter and Son.
Eldon became well known for lawnmower sales and repairs.

Philip Eldon Porter, died on Dec 26 1997.
In 1997, Karen, PY's granddaughter, took over the store and renamed it:
Porter's Coffee & Tea House.
